Executive Principal & Principal
Are you passionate about education for young people in challenging urban environments and have experience of a significant leadership role within an educational environment? If so, we have a rarely offered opportunity for a committed Executive Principal to lead and develop within our Multi Academy Trust.
Start date: 1 September 2020
Salary: A competitive salary between the range of L20-26 (£65,560 – £75,934) will be offered to the successful candidate according to their experience.
Since Sentamu Academy Learning Trust was founded in 2015, the educational landscape has continued to evolve, providing both opportunity and challenge for our vision of academies which serve communities, nurture excellence and are authentically Christian. Our Trust comprises five academies:
- Archbishop Sentamu Academy – an 11-19 “sponsored” academy;
- St James’ C of E primary academy;
- Newland St. John’s C of E primary academy;
- ASPIRE AP academy – a 150-strong provision opened under the Free School programme in 2014; and
- Compass AP academy, a 60 place 11-14 provision.
Together our academies educate well over 2,000 students from ages 3 to 19, and employ more than 300 staff.
The Principal of St. James’ is also the Executive Principal of Newland St. John’s Academy. The new Executive Principal will further develop the Trust’s vision by leading and ensuring the highest standards of teaching and learning for all primary pupils, ensuring the best possible outcomes for all learners. We need someone who has an excellent track record of “achieving against the odds” and who excels in seeing and developing the potential in their teams. Above all, we are looking to appoint someone committed to demonstrating their Christian faith in every aspect of the work they undertake in achieving these goals.

I particularly enjoy RE as I like learning more about God and Jesus, there is more and more to learn every day.
My favourite subject is maths because it is fun as well as challenging!
I love the exciting trips that we go on, they make me think about the future and my future career.
I learn something new every day, then I like to go home and do more research, particularly about out topic.
The books we read in school have inspired me to read more at home; I really enjoy reading every day.
